ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Last night I went to an author night with Neal Stephenson, who wrote
Cryptonomicon, Zodiac (an "eco-thriller" named after the boat, not
the constellations), and most recently a trilogy of books chronicling
Newton, Leibniz, buccaneers, and the court of Louis the fourteenth.
Someone asked if he visited the locations in his books for research.
He said he did, but sometimes they had changed too much in the last
three centuries to be helpful. If that happened, he had a
solution--he would almost always find the information he needed in a
local museum. While he may not have visited ASTC members for this
research, I still wanted pass along his public appreciation for our
field.
