The study you recall sounds like one Beverly Serrell conducted some
years ago. She presented those findings at, if memory serves, at a
visitor studies conference I think during either the 1994 conference or
the 1995, so the visitor studies association might have something on it.
I wish my memory was better, but hope that helps

Subject: research on reading graphic panels

I vaguely recall research from the past that described how visitors
appeared to ignore graphic panels (observational study), but they were
actually reading the panels as they were walking towards or approaching
the
exhibit instead of pausing or stopping to read.

I have used a couple of search engines such as informalscience.org and
other databases, but I cannot seem to find what I'm after.

And of course, I do not remember the author, journal, publication date,
etc.

Is anyone's memory/library better than mine?!

Thanks
Cindy Chambers
