ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
Our group is collecting feedback to inform the design of our Native
American Astronomy and Earth Science workshops for museum educators.
This project is a collaboration between Indigenous Education Institute,
National Museum of American Indian, UC Berkeley Space Sciences
Laboratory, ASTC, and Ideum. We would love to get your input! As an
incentive, you will receive a free Navajo Astronomy poster after you've
completed the 20-min survey (you can see a sample image of the poster on
our website). Please see the message below or go directly to the online
survey link for more information:
http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/CosmicSerpent/survey_intro.html
Please complete the survey by Wednesday, May 10 (2 weeks from today) if
possible, but we will continue to collect any feedback until we run out
of posters.
I'll be happy to tell you more about this project if you are interested
in incorporating Indigenous Science into your regular science programs
and exhibits. Feel free to contact me.
Thank you very much!

------------- Project and Survey Information ----------------
Thank you for your interest! We need your help in designing workshops
for museum educators on Native American Astronomy and Earth Science -
Complete this brief survey and receive a free Navajo Astronomy poster!
Have traditional methods of outreach at your museum at times fallen
short of engaging Native American and Hispanic communities? Are you
eager to try innovative methods to attract Native and Hispanic audiences
to your museum doors? If you are interested in improving your
effectiveness with diverse public audiences at your museum, our planned
professional development effort may be an exciting and effective option
for you.
We wish to design professional development experiences to help you
foster environments where Native and Hispanic people can bring the
entirety of their cultural intelligence to bear in the learning of
science, from both native and western perspectives. To design these
experiences in ways that will best meet your needs, we are asking your
help in identifying your most pressing concerns, needs, and interests.
We will appreciate your feedback on our emerging workshop design. (More
information on our workshop plans is on our website linked below).
Please complete the web-based survey at the URL below. It should take
approximately 20 minutes to complete. As an incentive, once you have
completed the survey you'll receive a free copy of the beautiful Dine
(Navajo) Universe mini-poster (A $21.99 value - see image at the link
below). Your identity and individual responses will be kept
confidential, and your answers will be used anonymously, to identify
common themes and patterns to help us in our workshop design. The
results of the survey will be shared with all survey participants. We
sincerely appreciate your expert help! Please click the link below to
access the survey.
