The Children's Museum of Indpls just finished its Educator Open House for 2003-2004. We offer ours at the beginning of the school year, to allow teachers to work us into their curriculum. We find that waiting means that teachers are set in their plans, and often cant work us in. We have previews of our exhibits, information on upcoming travelling exhibits, and activities in every gallery. We are a large museum, and our turn out is generally 200+. THis year was amazing, at nearly 500. We also offer a collections tour, behind the scenes tours, and previews of our museum wide school events. And of course, we feed them! Last year was a sampler of the offerings in the restaurant (Chicken McNuggets, Pizza Hut Pizza and Curly Fries) but this year was more grown up, finger sandwiches and relish trays.

I think they are a grea opportunity to pitch continuing ed classes, new exhibits, new features and in-depth experiences. 

We also make sure to market to pre-service teachers from area colleges, to hook em early!
