The machine-made bottle workshop being given by George L. Miller and
Tony McNichol at the Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology Meetings
in Trenton, New Jersey has been rescheduled. The time has been moved up to
begin at 2:00 p.m. and last until 6:00 p.m. of the afternoon of October
21st. Our workshop will include enhanced slides of patents for the
various semi and fully automatic bottle-blowing machines, the bottles they
produced, and background on the impact of the changes brought about by
these machines. We also have a video that shows the Owens and other
machines production bottles that was produced by Owens-Illinois to
celebrate the centennial of the invention of the Owens machine. We will
also be bringing a number of bottles and jars and some glass making tools
to the workshop. Those attending are encouraged to bring bottles for
discussion and identification.
Peace,
