G.Carver: Thanks for your prompt response re: state archaeological standards. It should be a very useful source and I look forward to it on-line Your compilation of European standards was most useful for those of us interested in such things. They should make for a most interesting comparative exercise. Best regards, Leonard Cohan.

I did my paper, and I'm meaning to post it online -
Been busy with other things...
Did start updating my website one nite (when I was too tired to do any real
work) & had some problem with lack of space on the server - so I'm going to
have to be imaginative & shift files around to the 3 servers I have accounts
on, get those lists & my draft online sometime soon (I'll announce when;
maybe try this weekend) -
I also intend to rework the paper for publication; as with all term-papers,
it was fairly rushed & superficial, and I didn't have a chance to do more
than pick out some of the salient similarities & differences - I'd like it
to be comparable to the one I did on european legislation

Carver:...by the way and off the topic, have you ever finished the listing
of state archaeological standards you were gathering a while back? and if
so, are they available? Thanks, Leonard Cohan.

Ah, Ned, things have changed since we went to school. Since the 1970s,
history departments across American almost went to the dumpster and a new
wave of history-minded public arose. By the mid-1980s, the field of "public
