POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
VISITING PROFESSOR OF ARCHAEOLOGY

Pending the availability of funding, the Department of Social
Sciences at Michigan Technological University invites applications
for a visiting professor of Archaeology whose research interests
focus on the industrial/historical era.  Appointment would be for one
year for academic year 2004-2005.   Duties include teaching 3 courses
per semester in the Archaeology/Anthropology curriculum and
articulation with a growing MS/PhD program in Industrial Heritage and
Archaeology.   Preferred qualifications include completion of a
doctorate in anthropology and/or archeology with research interests
in American industrial history, material culture, and industrial
archeology.  (ABDs may apply as visiting lecturers.)   Courses to be
taught may include introductory social sciences classes titled "World
Peoples & Environments" and "Prehistory and Archaeology."   Salary
and rank dependent upon qualifications.
