ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

In the university environment, there is usually an IRB (Institutional
Review Board) that oversees all human subjects research. Based on my own
experiences while a faculty member, I don't find the report at all
surprising. What I wonder is what do science centers, especially small
ones, do about this? We are doing more and more observation of students
and teachers for grants to our Center and we have no oversight of any
sort. Should we have an IRB? Are we leaving ourselves at risk?
