This is precisely what I mean.
There is no appliqué decoration, and, where moulding occurs, the moulded
decoration is the same colour as the rest of the body fabric. Jeanne Harris
and myself both remain unconvinced that the material described by James
Murphy matches what I'm talking about - and since Jeanne spent the better
part of 25 years working in the Ohio valley before coming to Australia, her
opinion carries some weight with me on this. But in the absence of images
there's no point in getting too fussed since we don't really know either
way.
So, I would be happy to follow up on William McAlexander's request that I
post a photograph if it's appropriate, but I was under the impression that
list etiquette was against posting images. Has this changed? I have a
106kb image of 7 fragments, including a decent view of one break, and would
be happy to send it on (including off-list) to anyone who's interested
Finally, curiously enough I've had two off-list posts overnight from New
Zealand (from Alexy Simmons and Katharine Watson) confirming that the
material under discussion turns up down there as well.
So assuming that David Babson - at the very least - is looking at the same
material, we have reports of this stuff from the US, Wales, Scotland,
Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand - quite
the spread.
