Although Pachelbel's Canon became famous in a 19th-century arrangement,
most notable for its pizzicato arpeggio realization of the figured bass,
it is otherwise more or less as the composer wrote it. More authentic
recordings, whatever their merits, don't have what it takes to grab the
public taste in the sensational way the arrangement did. Sorry I can't
remember the arranger's name for sure, but it may have been Schiffert.
