I used to think that too about the *recording* (as distinct from the
performance). But then I got hold of a 180g vinyl pressing remastered
by King Records. The sound is surprisingly good. I also have the rather
nasty remastered CD that came out on Decca in the 80s, and the sound
simply does not compare.
