An alternative to a looooonng extension cord would be a converter that
plugs into your cigarette lighter and then plugging your shop vac into
the converter.   Be sure to make sure the converter is strong enough to
carry the high startup amperage of the shop vac.  These converters go
all the way up to 5000 watts, but the higher wattage units need to wired
in through a fused device directly to your batter.  A good source would
be any of the larger truck stops along the interstates.    Mike
