I have found that putting a unwaxed frame in the middle of the brood nest
helps prevent swarming.
Foundation in the center of the brood nest does very little to prevent
swarming. An MT drawn comb is a better choice by far.

frame, then the bees are forced to draw it out
The bees will draw out sooner most foundation put in the brood nest but
foundation does not provide the queen room to lay eggs .
. > Also, I have found that bees will draw out 9 frames just as well as ten
unwaxed frames when mine are on a good honeyflow.
All George and others were trying to point out Josh was that the spacing of
nine causes problems when trying to get good brood comb.Using ten at first
is the best way in my opinion for brood comb & honey supers but many use
nine foundation in supers. I do not. I prefer ten when using foundation.

Bob Harrison
