Mary,
Please don't take me wrong -.As a Lactation Consultant for almost 18 yrs. I
do wonder when one has provided good expertise - with good support, after
about 6 weeks what else is going on and what does this mom really want/need
(as Ann and others have pointed out there are definately other issues going
on in this persons life) Would it be possible for a public heatlh nurse to
see her in her home are there any Mother/baby groups near her, or should
she go see her OB about PPD?) If this mom is making not quite enough milk -
with your input and guidance - what really are her goals? I have myself been
wondering about this type of client - (way before your post) They are
stressed, say one thing, then do another and sometimes tell other
professionals that they are feeling pressured or guilty about
breastfeeding.. I wonder if this mom needs to be stroked on how wonderful
she is doing in the situation she is in and not measure success on 100% BF.
Good Luck
