Of possible interest regarding the Mounie & Co. Cognac Brandy is a reference in P. A. Putnam's "Bottled Before 1865", published by the author in 1968. On page 55, there is a copy of a newspaper ad from the Utica Daily Herald and Daily Gazette of May 2, 1863 from Breen and Co. of Utica, New York, a wholesale "jobbing house." The ad discusses liquors and related products they were selling and included J. Denis Hy Mounie & Co. in a group of 14 different cognac brandies. The products were sold in cases of one dozen bottles and the wholesale price for a case ranged from $15 to $60 according to "brand and vintage." The cognac brandies were advertised both for "medicinal and family use." Hope this is helpful.
