I recently returned from the SHA meetings in Providence a much more
knowledgeable and well-rounded person. No longer can my colleagues on
Histarch play on my natural gullibility and trust (as they did this Fall) by
claiming that a quahog is 1) some kind of powerful Algonquian totemic spirit
or 2) a local way of preparing pork. The chowder was delicious! I also
learned what a bubbler (drinking fountain) is. This just goes to show that
it is never too late to learn more, though the process is a bit slower.
Thanks,
Bob Hoover
