ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
We have computer lab at the Green Bank Science Center, and use it quite a
bit during overnight field trips for students and during teacher
workshops.
As far as the general public goes, we use the lab for just one kind of
activity: we use Hands-on Universe software to allow our visitors to do
some image processing with astronomical images. They like that and get to
take home a false color image that they have produced.
But the lab is never used as a community computer center, although we've
been talking about offering some classes in basic MS Office skills, web
searching, and the like.
We ae located in a very remote area. Many folks have no home access to
computers, and of those who do very few have high speed access.
