I just noticed something! The 2004 ASTC conference in San Jose is
September 18-21. But according to my calender, 9/16+17 are Rosh Hashanah.
Frankly, I don't know that I'll be able to attend since the dates mean
I'd have to miss the NEON preconference session and would have to travel
(cross-country) to California on the 18th, missing much/most of the stuff
on the 18th as well. You think it's tough to get your institution to
commit the resources to sending you to the conference? Try it when you'd
have to miss about a third of said conference.

Let me be frank: the conference always includes sessions on reaching
diverse audiences and inclusiveness and all - so who the heck scheduled
it on dates that make it prohibitive for Jewish science center folks to
attend? I don't think "ironic" is quite the right word...
