William --

Too bad you didn't post this inquiry about two weeks ago.

There was BIG WW I aviation conference in Dayton, OH, back then, from which
you might have gotten some help.

The topic is intriguing.

Recommend you go to the WEB site for the League of World War I Aviation
Historians, and post your questions there, also. I would also talk to the
curation staff at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton.

How big of an operation occurred on your site may hint at what you could
expect in terms of remains. Service facilities for only a few planes would
not have amounted to much.

Hope to hear more about your project. Where exactly are we talking about?

Cheers!
