I think that also depends on how likely your visitors are to drop 
food into the sandbox. We aren't displaying priceless artifacts so we 
aren't as vigilant as we might be about food in our halls. Usually 
it's just Goldfish cracker crumbs, but one of our staff people had 
the unpleasant experience of finding an old sandwich in our sand play 
area. With cooties galore.
