Bunny, as you know corner fireplaces are common throughout NM, both
archaeologically and architecturally. Both corner fireplaces and hornos
were introduced during the Onate period. Now usually called "kiva"
fireplaces, corner fireplaces have become integral part of "Santa Fe style."
Corner fireplaces are also common in parts of northern Deleware and
extreme SE Pennsylvania where they were introduced by Swedish settlers in
the late 17th century.
