Permit me to add my voice to the chorus praising Frank Martin (whom
I discovered via Robert Shaw's recording of his Mass on the "Evocation
of the Spirit" CD that Steve Schwartz gave such a negative review - if
there are better recordings of this work, Steve, I would love to know
about them).

Also to be recommended are his works for string orchestra - three
of them were recorded by the Munich Chamber Orchestra on a Koch CD:
Polyptique, Etudes for string orchestra, and Sonata da Chiesa.
