Neville,

Separate school entrances are great boons for receiving
and organizing school (and some other) groups. The only
real negative I can think of was first pointed out to me by
Verner Johnson (architect):

We make wonderful entry experiences in our buildings (often!)
and then bring the kids in the back door - aren't they the ones
for which we build the grand entrances?

This struck me as especially valid when I worked at the Museum
of Science and Industry in Chicago - a wonderful neoclassical
building with great steps rising to a grand pillared entry ( a 1893
World's Fair building). We brought the kids in the back then, by
the dumpsters. It wasn't right!

Good luck!

Peter Anderson
