I'll second that!  I'm offended by the classical "melodies" I hear from
cell phones.  I find cell phones annoying enough, but those "melodies"
are the icing on the cake.  I think what offends me is how it promotes
the idea that the sequence of notes and rhythm is all that's needed to
represent great music, thus de-emphasizing the other crucial factors,
e.g.  musicianship.
