1) In this trail and error, did you ever not feed some hives and instead
leave them with honey to winter on?

No, fed up with surip in fall.  About a pale and a half ave.  ~2.5-3.5gal

2) In these trails did you ever notice any dead outs with soiled
entrances, soiled top bars, unripened sugar syrup stores, or any with
no feed left?

Besides the difference in losses, I found that the difference was that
the wrapped colonies I made more splits from.  Unwrapps came
through weaker and more dead, made fewer splits form them.   Some
had little to no stores, few had dysentry.
