I checked the OED for information. The first definition indicates that
Jenny is a name for a woman, and that it can be used derisively for a
man interested in things feminine. In my own family, I had an aunt
whose name was Jane, but everyone called her Jenny. As a result, I had
concluded, perhaps erroneously, that Jenny could be a more informal use
of the name Jane. (Now, I'm not so sure). The word sheila is given as
a term used by men to refer to a girlfriend. I have heard the term
sheila in films when it meant an effeminate male homosexual.
