Never mind the filters: some of us will automatically delete any
email without a subject.
Anita, I was wondering if HISTARCH couldn't tag its messages the way
some lists do, that is, have [HIST] or something like appear at the
beginning? That way we can make sure that our filters don't dump
HISTARCH messages into the Junk Mail box. Both the Afro-American
Archaeology list and the CHAT (Contemporary Historical Archaeology in
Theory) list do that automatically when a member sends in something,
before the message is circulated. That way one doesn't have to
puzzle over the source of the message if one doesn't recognize the
name of the sender. My motto is when in doubt, delete--opening even
one spam message accidentally is too much.
