Nope: The way the law reads is that only arrowheads, cartridges/bullets,
coins, bottles (if I remember the exceptions exactly) and THEN only if they
are not from KNOWN archaeological/Historic sites. Remember, Lawyers wrote
it!

oops...I forgot (from my days working for the FS)...that it is only illegal
to DIG up items. Items on the surface are free for the taking...the way
the law is written (apparently; I havent read it)....which is just
wonderful.
