There are the hulls of several concrete barges on a portion of the old
Barge Canal in the upper Mohawk River. They are quite interesting! Nobel
Whitford's 1921 _History of the Barge Canal of New York State_ (page 355)
notes that they were built between 1917 and 1920 by the federal government
and measured 150 feet long, 21 feet wide, 12 feet deep and could carry 520
tons of cargo!
