The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is, thankfully, on the third floor, with
storage on the second floor of another building, so we sustained no damage.
Our museum is in the Torpedo Factory Art Center which, despite the flood
gates, had about 2-3 inches of water on the main floor. We also lost part
of the city dock behind the building. Most of the artists had moved their
artwork, but carpeting and wall board needed to be replaced. The other City
of Alexandria museums also came through unscathed.

I was wondering how our collegues in VA and NC fared in the Hurricane. I
heard
Jamestown NPS curation facility flooded but haven't heard from folks in
Richmond and North Carolina. In St. Mary's we lost a number of trees and
some
of our outside exhibits took a hit. The collections and sites came through
pretty good although power was out for a week in the lab.
