The latest issue of Northeast Historical Archaeology (Volume 30-31) is a
special issue titled "Historic Preservation and the Archaeology of
Nineteenth-Century Farmsteads in the Northeast."  It has 13 articles (189
pages) that grew out of a symposium and a workshop on the subject at the
Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology meetings in 1997 and 1998 and
was edited by Sherene Baugher and Terry H. Klein.  It is a nice
contribution to the literature.  Unfortunately, the web page for CNEHA does
not list the information on buying the volume beyond joining the
organization, but I am sure that Dave Landon, the editor can provide that
