I have found an earlier date for the introduction of selenium as a glass
decolorizer that was published in:

Rosenhain, Walter
1908  Glass Manufacture.   D. Van Nostrand Co.  New York

page 190    " . . . (it) is finding some use in glass manufacture as a
colourizing and a decolouring agent. "
