Actually, Jim Deetz used John Vlach's then current interpretation of shotgun houses to argue for a similarity in proxemics in the house foundation at Parting Ways, based on the size of the rooms he had seen in the plans that Vlach illustrates in his Natural History article. The plan of the Parting Ways foundation was not that of a shotgun house and Deetz did not confuse the two.
