Michigan Technological University extends an invitation to archaeologists in
the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic USA to visit our work at the West Point Foundry
this summer. The site is always open to visitors (it sits in a canyon used
by the local community as a nature park), but we've designated Saturday,
June 21st, as "Archaeology Day." Staff will be available to give tours of
the site, between 10 AM and about 3:30 PM.

Visitors need good, sturdy shoes, water, and be prepared for light walking
in the woods. I recommend bug repellant because of Lyme's and the
mosquitoes.

Alicia Valentino prepared a map and some directions using Map Quest. Išve
put them up on the website at:
http://www.ss.mtu.edu/faculty/scarlett/westpointfoundry/directions.pdf

Hope to see lots of colleagues and students there!
Cheers,
Tim Scarlett
