CALL FOR PAPERS and POSTERS
Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology
Lowell, Massachusetts, October 23-26, 2003
"Thrust forward into a New Century:" The Transformation of the Northeast

CNEHA is now accepting abstracts for the 2003 annual meeting. Papers are
limited to 20 minutes and will be followed by a five-minute question and
answer period. Proposed thematic sessions include: The Industrialization of
North America, Massachusetts Historical Archaeology, The African-American
Experience in the Northeast, Landscape Archaeology, Collections Management,
Material Culture Studies, Archaeology of the Twentieth Century, Public
Interpretation, and On the Edge of a Wilderness: Colonial and Contact Sites
in the Northeast. Contributed research papers and proposals for additional
organized sessions will be considered. Pre-registration fee must accompany
all abstract submissions.

Space will be available to display posters on current research in
northeastern historical archaeology in the CNEHA book-room. Poster
presenters must submit an abstract accompanied by the appropriate
pre-registration fee. Poster presenters may choose to have reserved floor
space or a table for tabletop displays. Posters cannot be attached to the
walls, however poster presenters may provide their own easels. Posters
should be primarily visual in nature with accompanying text labels. A useful
primer (written by Fraser Neiman) on poster creation can be found in SAA
Bulletin Vol. 12 No. 1 (Jan/Feb 1994). The primer can be downloaded at our
website or directly from the SAA's website at
www.saa.org/publications/saabulletin/1-94.pdf. Poster presenters are
encouraged to be available at their display frequently throughout the
conference to discuss their presentation with conference goers. A formal
poster session time, when all poster presenters are required to be at their
posters, will be established in the final program.

DEADLINE FOR TITLE AND ABSTRACTS: JUNE 30, 2003

The abstract submission form may be downloaded at CNEHA's website:
