Eric Goldberg asks:
>Does anyone know the real names of the performers on the Period set of

This recording seems to have appeared in the early '60s. It was not
reviewed in High Fidelity, to my knowledge, but you might try the archives
of the Detroit Public Library where Kurtz Myers was still compiling
reviews. In the 1966 Artist Issue of the Schwann, de Cross is shown
conducting 3 opera recordings, and one "Raphael de Cross" was shown
conducting some 6 or 7 orchestral recordings with clearly pseudonymous
orchestras: Paris National Symphony, Paris Promenade Orchestra, and
Salzburg Festival Orchestra. I can't find reviews of any of these
recordings in my library either. Surely opera buffs can give you more
help, of which I am not one.
