I think there are a lot of archaeologists interested in the oral histories
and filming of military battles. Ever since archaeology at Little Big Horn, the
SHA Conference has increased manifold on papers concerning order of battle,
mapped bullets, trench warfare, and how people really lived during wartime.
Hollywood films do distort, but so can be said of oral videos of old soldiers.
This is really not much different than reading letters and reports from
battlefield veterans vying to improve their personal records. The fun part is to test
the written and filmed history in the field.
