I use the Music Dictionary at Virginia Tech <
http://www.music.vt.edu/musicdictionary/>, which defines Lento as "Slow"
and Largo as "A slow and solemn tempo marking, having between 40 and 60
beats per minute."
The dictionary's Tempo Terminology "Basic Directives" section shows
that, in general, "very slow" encompasses (from the slowest) Largo
(MM from 40 to 60), Adagio (from 66 to 76) and Lento (no stated time,
but presumable between from 56 to 66). See <
http://www.music.vt.edu/musicdictionary/appendix/tempo/tempo1.html>.
