Mitch Friedfeld:
>I regret to inform readers that Elizabeth Hawes, a former member of this
>list who made many friends while a subscriber, has died after a long
>struggle with leukemia. Elizabeth, a life-long enthusiast of many types
>of classical music -- especially Strauss's Four Last Songs, all of Mahler
>and Puccini, and lately the Lord of the Rings in both its cinematic and
>musical forms -- had a warmth that made itself felt to her many friends
>who knew her only in cyberspace, like me. She will be missed.
I suspect that those listmembers who remember Elizabeth will be long-time
correspondents like me. Contrary to the experience of most on-line
participants, I met her face-to-face in Cambridge, Mass. We had only
an afternoon, but we seemed to enjoy ourselves. A lovely person who
loved music.
