Many have recommended the Gergiev.  While I liked the performance, I
found the recording a little too unnatural in its reverberence.  A
recording worth exploring.  Amongst my 10 or so different versions, I
still prefer the Celibidache with Stuttgart on DG.  He is blessed with
a wonderful violinist and despite Celibidache's reputation for being
lugubrious, the tempi here is just right for me.  The recording is clean
and detailed.  Whenever I want to immerse in this music, I always put
this one on.
