Holst came to for a holiday in Majorca in Easter 1913 with Balfour
Gardiner and Clifford and Arnold Bax. Holst enjoyed the market at Palma.
The mellow wine seemed to wash away the air of depression that had
descended on him during the winter. The oranges tasted sweeter and the
lazy lifestyle agreed with him. After returning to St Paul's Girls'
School, Hammersmith during August, out of term time, he wrote the St
Paul's Suite.
