I'm certainly seeing cannibalism of brood (these aren't a US strain), but
it's a different pattern to that of diploid drones. When brood is capped, I see
an excellent pattern. Later, when the eyes begin to go purple, brood is
uncapped, and, eventually, eaten. If you looked at a frame after this point, it
would look the same as 'normal' pepperpot brood.
