Position Overview: Serve as editor and production coordinator
for the Seattle Symphony's main concert program magazine, Encore,
manage cross-department editing of the Seattle Symphony's website,
and produce the annual report as well as other publications,
inserts and collateral material as designated.
Reports to Director of Public Relations
Supervises: N/A
Primary Responsibilities
* Edit and produce the concert program magazine and annual report
for theSeattle Symphony.
* Primary liaison with Encore Media Group and responsible for
the development and adherence to the established production
schedule including managing appropriate deadlines for materials.
* Plan, edit and prepare copy for the production of inserts and
librettos; secure the services of annotators. Plan and prepare
all photos and images associated with the program magazine
including the front covers (with direction from the Seattle
Symphony Art Director).
* Manage cross-department editorial content of the Seattle
Symphony website.
* Plan, prepare and monitor publications budgets.
* Maintain the Seattle Symphony style guide.
* Serve as creative writer, editorial resource and proofreader
for other Seattle Symphony collateral materials, including but
not limited to, marketing brochures/flyers, press releases, and
press kits.
* Maintain the visual integrity and image of the Seattle Symphony
publications.
Qualifications
* Experience in copy-writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, Acrobat Suite, Pagemaker and
Publisher, with print production experience.
* Knowledge of Photoshop and Freehand/Illustrator.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize, pay
close attention to numerous details, be deadline-oriented, and
take initiative to manage all aspects of assigned projects
including budgets.
* Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
* Experience and knowledge of classical music desired.
