Hi Everyone,

Tim wrote in part: " Mine is black inside
and out. I paint it black to absorb light, not to reflect light. The
absorbed light is radiated as heat."
Regarding his solar wax melter. I agree with Tim. My casual
observations is that the wax melts from the top of the tray first -
always. Which indicates to me that the melter works by heating the air
to melt the wax. You want the interior of the box dark to absorb the
solar energy and heat the air. I would probably leave the outside light
but the unit would work better if the inside were dark. My melter works
fine here in the summer at 45 degrees N lat but there is no way it would
come close to melting wax in the winter!
I have always wondered why folks continue to suggest painting the
interior light when simple observation indicates otherwise.
