The Summer issue of Archaeology & Public Education, the electronic
newsletter of the Society for American Archaeology, Public Education
Committee, has now been posted. You may access it off the SAA web site or
directly from this link: http://www.saa.org/PubEdu/a&pe/index.html.

This issue includes stories on the 1st North American Archaeological Film
Festival, the SAA Excellence in Public Education Award, and several
interesting web sites, including a French cave tour, forensic science, and
excavations of the Mount Vernon distillery.

Summer programs on archaeology for both teachers and students are being
held around the country. Workshops for teachers are scheduled in Iowa,
Texas, Colorado, Georgia, New York, Kentucky and Indiana. Field
opportunities for students or teachers can be found in Alabama, Maryland,
Iowa, Indiana, and Kansas. Information on new publications and upcoming
conferences is also included, and new links for Michigan and Utah have been
added.

News items for the fall issue can be sent at any time up until the
deadline, which will be in August. Send items to the editor at [log in to unmask]

Please distribute this email to educators and archaeologists in your states.
