Carlos Prieto is of course Mexican musical royalty. I've had the joy
of hearing his son, Carlos Miguel, lead a tremendous Shostakovich Fifth
-- a performance which seemed to have all the power of the massed ensemble
with all the individual contribution of really good chamber playing. In
fact, I hope the Louisiana Philharmonic can secure him when the current
music director, the horribly unknown Klauspeter Seibel, leaves.
