I agree with you about Schwarzkopf, but I like Fischer-Dieskau in this
one more than you do.  I get the hysteria in spades, as well as the
delirium of the child.  And, of course, Moore does amazing things with
the accompaniment.

Prey did a powerful "Erlkoenig" with Bertini conducting the Liszt
orchestration.  This is probably my second-favorite version.
