Music of The Americas Presents Young Performers Night Concert at the
Americas Society - Friday, May 9 at 7:30 PM

The Americas Society Music of the Americas concert series is pleased
to present Young Performers Night, four young performers in recital on
Friday, May 9, 2003, 7:30 PM at the Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue,
corner of Park Avenue and 68th St. in Manhattan.

For the next to last concert of the 2002-2003 season, the Americas Society
will present a delightful evening showcasing young musicians of extraordinary
talent: harpist Maria Luisa Rayan, soprano Aylin Perez, tenor Emilio
Jimenez Ponz and clarinetist Amadeo Vives.

The program will include works by Arturo Merquez, Carlos Guastavino,
Piazzolla, Albeniz, Montsalvage and Amadeo Vives.

General Admission tickets are $15, with discounts for students and

The Americas Society promotes the understanding of the political, economic,
and cultural issues that define and challenge the Americas today, from
the Arctic Circle to the Southernmost tip of Argentina.

The Americas Society re-established the Music Department in January of
2001 and appointed Conductor/Flutist Maria Elena Tobon as its Director.
The new Music Department promotes works by composers from Latin America,
the Caribbean, United States and Canada, and also represents these
region's diverse musical traditions.
