Technically, the term plastic means a malleable substance. Wet clay can be
plastic, as can molten lava. There are a variety of synthetic malleable
substances, such as bakelite (not really very malleable) and celluloid that are not
commonly called plastic. Of course, everyone who grew up after World War II
thinks plastic is a thing rather than a physical state, and in this context, you
are correct. Sorry for the confusion.
