Histarchers. . .
You all probably remember the recent discussion on oval tokens made by
coin-op machines, railroad tracks, etc. Just because I know we all
have
nothing better to do, I thought I'd report that while on vacation this
weekend, I found one of these machines in operation in Seattle, in the
"Olde Curiousity Shop" on the waterfront.
Inspired by the discussion on HISTARCH, I plugged in my 51 cents, and
within three seconds, had a beautiful, gleaming oval token embossed
with
the store's logo. On top of the machine, there were books for sale in
which to house one's collection of smooshed penny tokens. . . I guess
it's still a going concern. Maybe just an olde curiosity. . .
